I am irresistibly drawn to nature and I paint scenes from all over Idaho, Oregon and beyond with both watercolors and acrylics. I pick out the “stand out” elements of the scenes before me and bring them to the forefront of my paintings. A “stand out” element may be a certain layout of shadows on the hills created by the floating clouds above. Or, it may be a small red bird in the middle of a massive snowy forest. As a fourth-generation native Oregonian living in Idaho, I feel uniquely blessed to have so much gorgeous and wild nature surround me. My great-grandfather, C.E.S. Wood, was an artist in Oregon and has strongly influenced my painting goals and techniques. His Eastern Oregon Desert paintings with Childe Hassam have inspired my acrylics and the impressionistic brush strokes in my paintings.
